large sailing vessels and vessels over 24 meters in length (LOA) with square rigs and all other sailing learning vessels over 40 meters in length. Typically, ships in this group are 60 to 120 meters long, with masts 30 to 50 meters high.

Class A

FRYDERY CHOPIN

Brig Fryderyk Chopin is a Polish training sailing ship launched in 1992 at the Dore shipyard in Gdynia. She is a regular participant in The Tall Ships Races regattas and runs training trips throughout the year within "School at Sea" projects. Fryderyk Chopin will take 45 students on board and there will be 8 officers on the ship's crew. The ship has a length of 55.47 meters, a width of 8.5 meters and a draft of 4 meters.  Her masts are an impressive 37 meters high and there are 2 sails on board, with a total sail area of 1,200 square meters.

POGORIA

Pogoria is a sailing training vessel of the Polish sailing training organization launched in 1980, which was designed and built especially for the training of young people aged 14-25. The ship's crew has 46 crew members, 6 of them are officers and 40 are sailing students. The three-masted barkantine has a mast height of 34 meters and a total sail area of 945 square meters, a length of 47 meters, a width of 8 meters and a draft of 3.65 meters.

DAR MLODZIEZY

Dar Młodzieży is the first sailing ship in a series of 6 ships built as training vessels for the Soviet Merchant Fleet. It was launched in 1981 at Gdańsk Shipyard and was commissioned in July 1982. The ship has three masts with a maximum height of 62.1 meters on which up to 3015 square meters of sails can be hoisted. Length 108.8 meters, width 12 and keel depth 6.2 meters. Dar Młodzieży's home port is Gdynia in Poland and it is a training ship of the Gdynia Maritime Academy. 136 cadets can sail on the ship at a time, trained and supported by 40 ship's officers and main crew members.

GULDEN LEEUW

Gulden Leeuw or Golden Lion is a three-masted fore-and-aft schooner flying under the Dutch flag. The vessel was built in Denmark in 1936-1937 on behalf of the Ministry of Agriculture and Fisheries. For the first almost 40 years, the ship sailed under the name Dana and made research and study trips. The ship was bought by the current owners in 2007 and has since been called Gulden Leeuw and sails under the Dutch flag. Gulden Leeuw is a regular participant in The Tall Ships Races regattas and also collaborates on "School at Sea" projects. Most recently, Gulden Leeuw visited Tallinn in the spring of 2019 as part of the “School at Sea” project, where the ship's crew were Canadian 11th and 12th grade students. The ship has a length of 67.5 meters, a width of 8.6 meters and a draft of 4 meters. The masts are 40 meters above sea level and the sail area is 1,400 square meters. The ship's crew has 84 members, 60 of whom are students.

Class A

STANDARD

The Standart is a modern copy of the first ship of the Russian Baltic Fleet built in 1703 by order of Peter the First. A copy of the frigate was launched on September 4, 1999 and was built so that its underwater part is modern, but above the cannon deck the ship is historic. The frigate is 34.5 meters long, 7 meters wide and 3.3 meters deep. If in 1703 the frigate had 120 crew members, today there are 8 officers and 26 students on board. The ship also has seven cannons on board, which are used to give welcome salutes and re-enact historical naval battles.

MORGENSTER

Morgenster, or Morning Star, was built in 1919 as a herring fishing vessel in the Netherlands and was called De Vrouw Maria. In addition to fishing, Morgenster has also been a pirate radio, broadcasting forbidden rock music from international waters in the 1970s. Since 1983, the Morgenster has been in the possession of today's owners and has been an active sailing ship since 2009, participating in The Tall Ships Races regattas and also doing many educational projects under the Erasmus + and School at Sea programs. The ship is 46 meters long, 6.57 meters wide and has a draft of 2.42 meters. The height of the masts is 29 meters and the sail area is 600 square meters. The team consists of 46 people, 36 of them are sailing students.

TRE KRONOR AF STOCKHOLM

Construction of Tre Kronor af Stockholm began in 1997 and the ship was launched in 2005. The 25-meter-long and 8.2-meter-wide hull of the two-masted barge is built of oak and the deck is made of Siberian cedar. The masts are 29.5 meters high and have a sail area of up to 735 square meters. Tre Kronor's crew has 37 members, 13 of them are officers and 24 are students.

Launched in 1913, Betty is a fore-and-aft ketch from Denmark. This 108-year-old beauty is 17.65 meters long and has a crew of 10 people, 6 of whom are sailing students.

ALBANUS

Albaanus on kahemastiline kahvenkuunar ahvenamaalt, mis tegi oma esimesed sõidud 1988 aastal. 21 liikmelise meeskonnaga laeval on pikkust 27,4 meetrit ja laiust 6,1 meetrit. Mastide kõrgus veekoha 24,38 meetrit.

CHRISTIANIA

Christiania is a fore-and-aft ketch from Norway built in 1895 as a rescue ship. During her 37 years of service, she rescued 257 people, 90 ships and helped boats in 2,881 cases. She ended her career as a lifeboat in 1932, after which she was a cargo and pleasure sailing ship. In 1997, on the way to London, Christiania sank to a depth of 495 meters, from where she was lifted up 19 months later.

DESIRED

Ihana, a two-masted fore-and-aft schooner, was built in 2010. The length of this sailboat is 26.44 meters and the maximum height from the waterline is 24 meters. During the training trip, Ihana will take on board 28 people, 10 of whom are officers and 18 sailing students.

Krasotka, a two-masted top sail schooner built in 2013, comes from Russia. It has a length of 41 meters, a width of 7.3 meters and a maximum height of 25.5 meters from the waterline. The crew consists of 16 members.

VALBORG

Built in 1948 in Porvoo as a cargo ship carrying cargo between port cities in war-torn Finland. In the 1970s, the ship underwent a refurbishment and was scout training base for a long time. Today, Valbord is a sailing training ship, which sometimes also makes charter runs. There is also a sauna on board the Valborg, which sure comes in handy when sailing in the Gulf of Finland.

Atyla on kahemastiline kuunar Hispaaliast, kelle kodusadamaks on Bilbao. Atyla ehitati omaniku enda ja vabatahtlike poole aastatel 1980 kuni 1984, eesmärgiks purjetada ümber maailma. Kahjuks langes ümber maailma purjetamise sponsor kohe vahetult peale veeskamist ära ja see projekt jäi tegemata. Alates 2014 aastast on aktiivne purjeõppelaev ja on osalenud pea kõigil The Tall Ships Races regattidel peale seda. Laeval pikkust 31 meetrit, laiust 7 meetrit, 3 meetrit süvist, mastide kõrgus 25 meetrit ja purjepinda 400 ruutmeetrit. @atyla_ship

Bonewentura, flying the Polish flag, is another historic fore-and-aft ketch. The ship is 20.68 meters long and has a crew of 14 people.

ETOILE

Etoile is the second French Navy sailing training ship visiting Tallinn this summer. Built in 1932 in Normandy and similar to Belle Poulle, it serves as a training ship for the French Naval Academy (Ecole Navale).

The sailing ship Ingrid is also coming from Finland, in terms of the rig it is fore-and-aft cutter and the 20.5 meter ship has a crew of 8 people.

SKONNERTEN JUTLAND

Skonnerten Jylland has been a three-masted topsail schooner figure since 1951. The vessel with a metal body is 37.4 meters long and the mast is 23.57 meters high from the waterline. In addition to the usual training trips, the ship also engages in social pedagogy. The school on board of the ship has helped many young people with activity and attention disorders.

BELLE POULE

Prantuses mereväe õppelaev Belle Poule on kahemastiline topsel kuunar, millal pikkust 39 meetrit ja mastid kõrvuvad üle veepinna 29 meetrit. 28 liikmelisest meeskonnast on 16 ohvitserid ja 12 mereväe kadetid. Põhitegevus on uute mereväe ohvitseride välja koolitmamine ja merepraktika andmine. Belle Poulel on tänaseks vanust 89 aastat.

Brabander is a two-masted fore-and-aft schooner from Klaipeda, built in 1977. The vessel which belongs to the University of Klaipeda, organizes sailing training as well as research and training projects for young people. The ship is 32 meters long and 6.1 meters wide and its crew consists of 5 officers and 13 students.

GENERAL ZARUSKI

STS General Zaruski was completed in 1939 in Sweden. Since then, the vessel, which underwent a thorough renovation from 2008 to 2012, has actively participated in sailing training regattas. The ship is 25.3 meters long and 22 meters high from the waterline. The ship's crew consists of 5 officers and 20 sailing students.

The two-masted fore-and-aft schooner Johan Smidt comes to Tallinn from Germany. Built in 1974, the ship has a length of 35.6 meters and a maximum height of 33.53 meters from the waterline. The 37 crew members are divided into 8 officers and 29 students.

CHAIN

Akela is a Cetus-44 type sailing training yacht from St. Petersburg. The yacht which has always been very successful in The Tall Ships Races regattas, can often be seen on the podium of the regatta. In terms of the rig, Bermuda is a sloop, 13.6 meters long and 2.3 meters wide. The crew consists of 10 people.

Arkhangelsk, with its Bermuda sloop-type rig, is a yacht with a metal hull launched in 1974. The 14.94-meter ship has a crew of 16 people, 12 of whom are sailing students.

The sailing yacht Esprit, a two-masted schooner, is coming from Germany. The 19.92-meter-long yacht masts rise 17.98 meters above sea level and the ship has 16 sailors.

The Finnish scout sailing training yacht Navigator was built in 1947 in Turku. The ship is 16.05 meters long, 19.51 meters high and has a total of 10 crew members.

The Latvian Sailing Training Society's yacht Spaniel is a 17 meter long Bermuda sloop. Built in 1979 for solo sailing, but has now been a sailing training ship in Latvia for many years. Spaniel is a very regular participant in The Tall Ships Races regattas.

WIELKOPOLSKA

Built in 1962, the Polish sailing yacht is 16.7 meters long and 3.5 meters wide. Her draft is 2.5 meters. What known about her birth story is that the funding for its construction came from the sale of calendars and postcards.

The most successful Estonian Sailing Training Yacht ever, St. Iv has successfully participated in The Tall Ships Races regattas since 1993 under the leadership of Captain Margus Zakharov. Under the auspices of non-profit company STA Estonia Estonian Youth Sailing Learning Society, the ship has participated in The Tall Ships Races regattas in 2011-2018, bringing numerous podium places home.  In terms of the rig, it is a Bermuda sloop, the yacht is 11.96 meters long and 4 meters wide.

DAR SZCZECINA

"Szczecin's Gift" or Dar Szczecina is the sailing training yacht from Szczecin, the last port city of this year's The Tall Ships Races regatta. As the name of the yacht says, it is a gift from the city of Szczecin to young sailing enthusiasts. It was a sailing yacht that performed very successfully at The Tall Ships Races regattas and the biggest competitor ever of Estonia's most meritorious sailing yacht St. Iv.

Helena, built in 1992 on the order of the Finnish Sailing Society, is a two-masted schooner. The ship is 45 meters long and has 28 members, 4 of whom are officers and 24 sailing students. Helena's sailing training program is year-round, sailing in domestic waters and The Tall Ships Races regattas in summer, and in the Atlantic Ocean and the Caribbean Sea in winter.

Vesta is a sailing training yacht of STA Estonia Estonian Youth Sailing Learning Society. Built in 1984 and owned by Eesti Energia and the Maritime School. Since 2014, Vesta belongs to STA Estonia, and in 2014-2017 went through extensive overhaul. In August 2017, Vesta became seaworthy again and has sailed more than 2,000 nautical miles of sailing trips in the Baltic Sea with sailing students every summer. Vesta was also the first yacht to participate in the Cutty Shark (Tall Ships Races) regatta under the blue, black and white flag, and in 2021 she will return to the regatta again after 29 years.
