The Tall Ships Races Tallinn 2024 started with a spectacular opening concert

On Thursday morning, 60 large and small sailing ships of the international sailing training regatta Tall Ships Races arrived at three ports in Tallinn. The event opened with the concert "Lainel" („On the wave“) which was specifically created for this opening.

The ships docked in three ports in Tallinn: Noblessner, Vanasadama cruise area, and Lennusadam. By noon, all vessels were moored. Throughout the day, visitors to the maritime festival had the opportunity to view the ships at all the ports, with the chance to board some of the larger and more historic vessels.

All three ports offered a rich entertainment program for the whole family throughout the day. On the stage at the Vanasadama cruise area, performances included DJ Qba, the Tallinn Port mixed choir, JT Conception, Kitty Florentine, and there were various games, crafts, and competitions for families with children.

During the day, at the Lennusadama marina, people could watch the Tallinn Race from the pier, DJ Ruff performed on stage, Tall Ships Races Tallinn 2024 was officially opened and the flags were raised. Lennusadam also offered a lengthy entertainment program for families, featuring educational activities organised by the Estonian Red Cross, Prügihunt (the Garbage Wolf), Tallinn Municipal Police, Estonian Police and Border Guard Board, and the library bus Katarina Jee.

Tšellopoisid performed on the stage at Lennusadam, and in the evening there was the opening concert "Lainel" with sign language and description interpretation. The concert was created specifically for this year's maritime festival. A dragon boat rowing competition was held at the Noblessner harbour, which also could be watched from the shore. Families enjoyed various games, competitions, and performances. There were stage performances from artists such as Birgit Sarrap, Mihkel Mattisen, and the Sissi trio. Additionally, the "Tsüanookeanid“ („Cyan Oceans“) exhibition was open at Kai Art Center.

Throughout the day, there were sea taxis going from Lennusadam to the Vanasadama cruise area and back, as well as the opportunity to take various boat trips around the bay.
